Despite entering their first-ever continental adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Without key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding result that all but secures them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another victory in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct passage to the last 16, particularly following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Grasp the Moment
This match offered a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second consecutive match.
The Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season proved outmatched against a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee injuries.
Control Established from the Start
In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.
Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee dismissed the appeals.
The formerArsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's shot had hit the post.
Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
